I got up this morning and found out I’m 30 (no, today isn’t my birthday. I just happened to have such a horrifying feeling welling up in my heart today. My birthday month has well passed). Believe me, a landmark like this is damned scary. It can put doubt, fear, sense of urgency, and a little bit of every kind of emotion in your heart. How could it be 30 years?! How could time fly so fast?

Then, like lightning, visual imagery of the past flashed in my mind. A BIG question started to pop up — What have I done in the past 30 years? It seemed I’ve done nothing. Nothing? How could it be? There must be something. Then, remembering that I’ve read some 100-things-about-me post some time ago, I decided to write one myself. But mine will be 50 things only. There are two important reasons for why one should write something like this:

A mirror: know a little bit more about yourself

Throughout my entire life, I’ve known too little about myself. What do I love? What do I hate? Why do I have so little to tell about myself whenever I was asked to introduce myself? I don’t want to live like this any more.

A memory capsule: know how much/little you’ve changed

While looking forward is always good, looking back can let us understand ourselves in a different way. More often than not, I am too engrossed in the “present and current” and forget how far I’ve fared. It’s time for me to set the record straight.

Hi Amanda! Thank you for dropping by my blog. Your blog is interesting indeed and yes….I am in the same boat with you, changing to more natural based skincare products after waking up one day and say ” I gotta do something before my skin gets worse!”

  2. Lydia says:

omg…. I really though you were talking about ME at some points! :P What have I done in the past 2X years of my life? Even though there were things that went wrong I can proudly tell hat I’ve never done anything to harm other people and that’s why I can sleep at night without worrying too much. >:D Also, I’m no hypocrite so you either love me or hate me. XD That’s the way I am and so far it works quite well.

You learned German? Wow! :D Impressive! Let’s write in German then! There are a lot of things that I cannot express in English. lol

Btw, didn’t I tell you? I’m the queen of procrastination! I know it’s not something to be proud of but hey, that’s me. XD

There’s something that a twentysomething can’t understand. When the 30-year-old landmark knocks at my door, I have to say, there is something in me that I can’t ignore. I have the feeling that my time is flying at a lightning speed. That’s no kidding. I don’t know if it’s just me.

My German is broken, and how much I want to communicate with you in German, I don’t think I have the ability. I used to joke with my friends that “My Deutsch ist kaputt.” Haha~
