My Coconut Oil Face Cleansing Experiment

The benefits of virgin coconut oil (VCO) are much touted. And I find they are worth repeating, because coconut oil can really do wonders for us.
However, when I first used coconut oil on my face, I wasn’t completely bought. To be accurate, if it hadn’t been for my under eye wrinkles, I would never have used oil on my face. At that time, I was much troubled by my ever deepening eye wrinkles. I was willing to try anything as long as it gave me any bit of hope. So, in spite of all those clamoring voices about having breakouts, I yielded. Fortunately, coconut oil doesn’t disappoint me.
It was the first time I used facial oil, and my routine was the simplest. First, I wet my hands with tap water and dripped a few drops of coconut oil on my palm. Then, I rubbed the oil between my palms and massaged my damp, clean face in an upward, outward movement. Next morning, I cleaned my face with a cleanser.
My skin looked great and smooth at first, but a few days into my experiment, a small scale of breakout popped up on my cheeks. My skin looked red. I had pimples on each side of my cheeks. Fortunately, they disappeared as quick as they came. In the following months, my skin improved day after day as time went by. No breakout ever appeared again. Now, I feel like I am married to this amazing oil. Below is a brief summary of the amazing benefits of coconut oil.
Firm up Sagging Skin
The skin on my forehead and cheeks used to look saggy. It’s good that the upward massage has brought life back to them.
Lengthen Eyelashes
I was told long time ago that coconut oil could lengthen the eyelashes. I didn’t believe it. How could simply applying oil lengthen our eyelashes? But now I know you have to see to believe.
Clear Blackheads
The size of the blackheads on my nostrils has diminished significantly. The skin care industry has made us believe that we have to strip oil from our skin for a clean, smooth face. I’ve found out it’s quite misleading. The more oil we strip from our face, the more oil our skin will secrete. When other factors such as dirt aren’t at work, oil can dissolve oil. Now, I don’t have to use a thick layer of foundation to hide my blackheads.
Lessen Under Eye Wrinkles
My under eye wrinkles are the first-and-foremost reason why I tried coconut oil in the first place. Some people said that they saw improvement within days or weeks. But in my case, it has taken three months for some noticeable improvement to appear. Although it can’t completely remove my wrinkles, it has done a great job of making the dehydration lines less noticeable.
My coconut oil only costs me HK$165. I think it’s quite an affordable home remedy.
